Three Way Gridshell

This project is developed during the course 2021 of the Master in Parametric Design for Architecture at the ETSAV-UPC Barcelona, Spain. It consists of designing a pavilion from straight timber planks taking advantage of their elasticity. In order to be built with straight boards it is necessary that the curves are geodesic, with respect to the target surface that gives shape to the construction. It is also necessary to take into account the radius of curvature that the timber planks can withstand to prevent them from breaking and to maintain a sufficient capacity to withstand the loads to which the structure is subjected.

In order to carry out this project, computational design was used, parametric design tools were developed in order to optimise the shape of the structure and digital fabrication was used.
